Procurement Branch revamps registration

Working with QBuildQBuild will launch its new Working with QBuild documentation at the Procurement 2007 Industry Forums being conducted state-wide through October and November. The new Working with QBuild suite of documents is aimed at simplifying the registration process for contractors and suppliers.

Executive Manager, Procurement Peter Keane said the documents have not only been designed to complement QBuild’s contemporary branding, but to send a strong, positive message to prospective contractors and suppliers.

“The signal we are sending is that QBuild values the support of contractors and suppliers and that there are good long-term, mutual business opportunities for them if they can get into step with ‘Working with QBuild’,” he explained.

The second significant change is the rationalisation of the amount of paperwork such as forms and terms and conditions that the contractors and suppliers are subjected to in the registration process. For example, the new Working with QBuild documents will provide separate conditions for contractors and suppliers. No longer will suppliers such as the local hardware shop have to read through conditions that apply to contractors.

Principal Contracts Officer Steve Murphy said the simplicity of the new process is the key.

“This new Working with QBuild process is in plain English, easy to understand and complements conditions of contract rather than taking a ‘belt and braces’ approach that has confused and intimidated potential contractors and suppliers in the past.”

The new Working with QBuild documentation will be launched in conjunction with other initiatives at the Procurement 2007 Industry Forums. In particular, contractors and suppliers will be invited to refresh their registration with ‘Quickforms’ – the new online registration process, and to access the new streamlined works contracts through the QBuild website.

Peter Keane said the initiatives are critical to QBuild’s core business.

“QBuild’s contractor and supplier register is arguably the most comprehensive industry database in Queensland. It is central to QBuild’s capability to deliver services across the state but we have to keep the register up to date, sharp and marketed at contractors where we need the supply,” he said.
